Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dan Singh Rawat recently visited the three self-groups located in Ranikhet town and was surprised to know that their products are being exported to London and The Netherlands.
Rawat inspected the works of these women’s groups and praised their efforts. The minister said that more and more women should come together and involve themselves in cooperative activities.
According to the minister, the women’s groups are active in their respective areas in Uttarakhand by getting interest-free loans and all possible help from the cooperative department and cooperative banks.
The news was shared by the Cooperative Department of Uttarakhand through facebook wall, “With the support of cooperative department the women of state are becoming self-reliant. The three self-groups namely Jagriti, Unnati and Pragarti SHGs located in Ranikhet town of the state are doing a praiseworthy work”.
“57 women are working with these groups. These SHGs have taken a hall on rent paying 38k every year for one year. They are making masks, artificial jewellery, wedding cards and many other things.
There is a big demand for Khadi masks in London and The Netherlands. These SHGs are exporting their products to these countries”, it further reads.
Almora District Cooperative Bank has sanctioned the loan of Rs 5 lakh each SHGs. This self-help group in Ranikhet is working under the umbrella of Hill Craft Society. Hill Craft is the only organization that does marketing work abroad. Almora DCCB General Manager Narendra Chandra said Ranikhet’s masks are being liked by Europeans. .
Neema Pandey, the head of a self-help group said that the schemes of the cooperative department and banks are changing their lives.
