Haridwar (Uttarakhand) based Libberheri Cooperative Sugarcane Development Society organized its second annual general meeting recently, in which scores of resolutions were passed including the construction of a new building of society.

On the occasion, the financial reports of 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 were presented before hundreds of delegates present on the occasion. Established in 2009 and the first AGM was held in 2016 and the second was organized recently. The delay in organizing was due to the non-preparation of the balance sheet.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Society Renu Rani said in order to increase the income, an action plan is being prepared to make available agricultural machinery and useful equipment to the sugarcane farmers. Many schemes like the opening of new fertilizer sales centers, production of organic sugarcane are under consideration.

It bears recall that the new board which was constituted in 2019, is making all efforts to raise the voice of Sugarcane farmers. The board is under the leadership of a well-known face in cooperative circles. Susheel Rathi has announced a plan to give a 4 percent dividend to its shareholders for four years.

Talking to Indian Cooperative one of the directors of the society Rathi said, “In the AGM held in 2016, the annual report of 2009-10, 2010-11 financial year was presented and in the second meeting the reports of four years were released. We are also in the process of giving the final shape to the annual reports of the remaining years”.

“The society earned a net profit of Rs 91 lakh (2011-12), Rs 1.12 crore (2012-13), Rs 55 lakh (2013-14), and Rs 96 lakh (2014-15). Besides, we are in the process of making the website of the society and will also make our presence felt on social media platforms sooner than later”, Rathi added, who is also on the board of the Haridwar DCCB.

It is being reported that Rathi is very active in taking the Society to newer heights. “Due to his personal connections with State Sugarcane Minister Swami Yatishwaranand, he always succeeded in resolving the issues of sugar cane farmers. On several occasions, with his efforts the sugarcane farmers were able to get their dues”, said one of his friends.

The Senior Sugarcane Development Inspector Ashish Negi, Secretary in-charge Mohammad Anees, Society Vice-President Ramrati Devi and Director Brijpal Singh, Saeed Ahmed and others were present.

Readers would recall that earlier the society has given a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh to help the government fight against coronavirus, when the covid-.19 entered the world.
