iffco-350 copyIFFCO has not beaten cooperatives alone but the corporate world as well in helping achieve the dream of Swach Bharat as envisioned by the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi.

The Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri Ananth Kumar received a letter committing a donation of ten crore rupees towards Swach Bharat from Indian Farmer’s Fertilizers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in New Delhi on Friday evening.

Earlier, Vainkaiyya Naidu, Union Urban Minister said “I have written to all MPs, Chief Ministers to join the campaign of Swach Bharat. I have also written to all business chambers, including CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM to participate.”

But indeed it was IFFCO which was the first to respond positively.

Speaking on the occasion Anant Kumar said IFFCO is committed to making such donation every year as the campaign envisioned by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi proposes separate toilets for girls in every school of the country.

A PIB press release on Friday read further “Presenting the letter the CMD & CEO of the IFFCO Dr. U.S. Awasthi said that all the five crore members of the IFFCO are committed to the Swach Bharat Campaign as proposed by the Prime Minister.”

Secretary Department Fertilizers Shri Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, and other officials of the ministry were also present.

Soon after the meeting an excited MD Dr U S Awasthi tweeted “ Glad to announce that #IFFCO joined #PMs #SwachhBharat campaign by pledging Rs.10 Crore this year @AnanthKumar_BJP @PMOIndia.

An ambitious project by the Prime Minisiter Narendra Modi a sum of Rs 1,96,009 crore has been earmarked for Swach Bharat mission, which will be launched on October 2, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The government is gearing up to launch the programme on a big scale on the October 2 with all ministers, religious bodies, business chambers being asked to participate in the cleanliness campaign on Gandhi Jayanti.
