Vivek Kolhe, the grandson of eminent cooperator Late Shankarrao Kolhe, has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana with Ramesh Ghoderao as Vice-Chairman, in an election held last weekend.
Though his grandfather was the staunch leader of National Congress Party, he is associated with Bharatiya Janata Party. Kolhe’s mother Snehaltatai Kolhe was the ex-MLA from BJP.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative, the Junior Kolhe, a young, dynamic leader driven by a positive attitude, pledged to work in the interest of Sugarcane farmers. “We will work to strengthen the sugar industry and I am very thankful towards the sugarcane producers and board members for reposing faith in me. It is a big responsibility on my shoulders but will leave no stone unturned”, the newly elected Chairman said.
“I have just taken charge as Chairman and already have different strategies to take the Sugar co-op to newer heights. We are working on making Paracetamol and pilot trails are going on. We hope that all the formalities for setting up the plant will be completed in a few months. If we succeed in our mission, we will be first in the cooperative sugar industry to develop Paracetamol”, Kolhe said proudly, who is also on the board of Ahmednagar DCCB.
Soon after the elections, he took the blessings at the famous Shirdi Sai Baba Temple where Kolhe was felicitated by the representatives of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust Mandal.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis also congratulated Kolhe on his victory.
It is being said that for the first time in the history of the cooperative sugar factories, the election of the board was held unopposed. For 28 years, his father was holding the top post.
