In a bid to bolster the social media presence of the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), a recent webinar was conducted by NCUI for personnel from 34 Cooperative Education Field Projects.
During the webinar, Smt. Savitri Singh, Deputy Chief Executive of NCUI, commended the efforts of the Cooperative Education Field Project personnel. She emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures to expand the reach of social media handles affiliated with both the Ministry and NCUI.
Shri Anant Dubey, Deputy Director of Public Relations at NCUI, outlined strategies based on the Ministry’s social media format. He underscored the significance of engaging members and encouraging them to follow the social media accounts of the Ministry and NCUI to stay updated on the latest developments in the cooperative sector. Additionally, he elaborated on the key themes guiding the digital journey.
Present at the webinar were Shri Rajiv Sharma, Executive Director (Projects), Veena Sachdeva, Director (Projects), and other officials from the Public Relations Division.
The initiative stems from a meeting convened in January by former Secretary of the Union Ministry of Cooperation, Gyanesh Kumar. Representatives from various national cooperative bodies, including IFFCO, Kribhco, Nafed, Trifed, and NCCF, gathered to discuss enhancing outreach on social media platforms.
The objective was to ensure that information regarding cooperatives and Ministry schemes reaches the approximately 30 crore people connected with cooperatives.
Key figures from cooperatives, such as IFFCO’s Joint General Manager Santosh Kumar Shukhla and PR Head Harshendra Verdhan, NCUI’s Savitri Singh, PR Head Sanjay Verma and Nafed’s General Manager Tarun Handa, were among those who attended the meeting.
Participants resolved to amplify the presence of their respective cooperatives on social media platforms to extend their reach to grassroots levels.
The Ministry urged them to circulate publications and newsletters in various languages to raise awareness about cooperative societies.
This initiative reflects a broader trend of national cooperative federations actively engaging with social media platforms like ‘X’ and Facebook. While some federations have already made strides in this direction, others are encouraged to follow suit, prompted by the Ministry’s letters urging increased media presence.
