Speaking on the occasion of North East Dairy Co-operative Conclave recently held at Guwahati, Sahakar Bharati’s senior leader Satish Marathe said that the Sahakar Bharati will leave no stone unturned in helping the organizations active in promoting milk co-ops in the region.
Addressing the gathering of Farmers, Satish Marathe, Founder Member of Sahakar Bharati & Director, Central Board, RBI noted return of peace in the entire Region and called for planned & sustained efforts to encourage Farmers in Dairying and setting up Milk Co-ops in all the North Eastern States.
Marathe assured that all Sahakar Bharati units in the region are being fully geared for setting up and promoting milk cooperatives in the area.
He added that spread of Dairying will also result in curbing adulteration, deepening of Financial Inclusion & Women Empowerment.
Biswa announced his Govt’s commitment to increase Milk Production to 10 lakhs litres per day in next 5 years and assured full support to Dairy Co-ops & Dairy Farmers.
Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture & Cooperation also addressed the delegates on the occasion and welcomed the MOU signed by the Assam Govt & NDDB to set another 7 to 8 Co-op Milk Plants and new Animal Feed Plants to usher in White Revolution in the State.
Meneesh Shah, Chairman, NDDB made a brief but informative PPT and assured full support to dairy farmers in all the NE States to boost productivity and increase income levels in Rural areas.
Hundreds of dairy farmers from the northeast participated in the conclave which was held at the Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium, Guwahati.
Some of the noteworthy experts present on the occasion included Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NDDB, and Satish Marathe, RBI Board member. State Minister Atul Bora was also present on the occasion.
The event started with the welcome speech by the Chairman of NCDFI, Mangal Jit Rai, who spoke at length on the potential of the northeast in igniting the dairy co-op movement. On this occasion, a presentation on NCDFI and Cooperative Dairying was also made.
Soon after the event, Assam Chief Minister lost no time in sharing the details on social media. He wrote, “Aiming at increasing daily milk production in the State to over a million liters, Govt of Assam signed an MoU with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Under the MoU, @NDDB_Coop will look after the managerial operations of East Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd”.
