An MoU between Vamnicom & YCSRD, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was signed at Shivaji University in the presence of several dignitaries including Dr D.T. Shirke Vice Chancellor of the university. The MoU will help both the Institutions in undertaking various Training Programs, Research and Consultancy activities, informed a press release.
The Training Program for participants of SAARC countries who are members of Centre for International Cooperation & Training in Agricultural Banking (CICTAB) will facilitate faculty members of YCSRD to interact with international participants for knowing the status of cooperative movement of their country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K KTripathy, Director, VAMNICOM highlighted the need of collaboration as Kolhapur District has a huge potential for undertaking research for various sectors of cooperatives and conduct of training programs in collaboration with YCSRD which will benefit various sectors of cooperatives functioning successfully.
In his remarks, Prof.(Dr.)D.T.Shirke, Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur felt that though in the earlier MOU many activities could not be taken up by both the institutions. It is high time, practical collaborations were initiated for undertaking issues of various sectors of cooperatives through research, organisation of training programs, exchange of faculty and organisation of exposure visits for participants from India and abroad.
“This would also give an opportunity for visiting participants to visualize success of various sectors of cooperatives. He also stressed for establishment of Professor Chair for Cooperation with support of VAMNICOM’, added Dr Shirke.
Dr Prakash Pawar, Director, YCSRD briefed about five Master’s degree programs offered by YCSRD mainly focussing on Rural Development and sought VAMNICOM’s Cooperation for collaborative teaching, research and training.
Pawar also invited VAMNICOM for initiating a joint effort in raising standards of teaching and research in the areas of cooperation and rural development.
Dr Vaishali Bhosale, Deputy Director, YCSRD coordinated the function. Dr Vilas Nandavadekar, Registrar, Shivaji University proposed a vote of thanks.
