Sahakar Bharati members across the country erupted into joy as soon as the news of its President Jyotindrabhai Mehta bagging the prestigious CNBC award hit the headlines. Mehta whom his friends call Mamaji lovingly said more than the award the reactions of people have touched me. “I am humbled”, he said talking to Indian Cooperative.
Earlier, CNBC Group conferred ”lifetime achievement award ” on Sahakar Bharti President Jyotindrabhai Mehta in the category of contribution in the cooperative sector in the Saurashtra Region in south western part of Gujarat. Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani was the chief guest in the award giving function held in Rajkot.
Besides being the key person in the Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank which enjoys the distinction of having a savings account of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mehta is also President of NAFCUB and Sahakar Bharati. Soft-spoken and mild-mannered Mehta is held in high regard by his opponents too.
In his speech on the occasion Mehta said ” cooperative is a unique business model and I feel proud that I am able to work for the upliftment of the poor through the cooperative sector. There are several cooperatives including IFFCO, Amul that are doing a commendable work.”
The event was organized specially to encourage Industrialists of Saurashtra who have made outstanding contributions in the field of automobiles, engineering and other industries.
On this occasion more than 700 reputed industrialists had been invited who have done Saurashtra proud by their extraordinary achievements.
Vijaybhai Rupani Chief Minister also gave away the Saurastra Ratna Award to Kanubhai Virani Director of Balaji Wafers Pvt Ltd on the occasion.
Sahakar Bharati members from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari, meanwhile began spreading the news of Mehta bagging CNBC award on social media.
