Trying to achieve the dream of Union Minister Amit Shah of having a multipurpose PACS in each Panchayat which does a variety of jobs, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) based Prerna Gramin Bigarsheti Co-operative Credit Society is actively opening godowns and cold storages in its area.
Prerna Gramin Bigarsheti Co-operative Credit Society is small but has an ambitious plan to take the society to newer heights in the future. The society is planning to construct warehouses and cold storages for the farmers sooner than later.
Talking to Indian Cooperative, the society Chairman Suresh Wable said, “We are on the growth path and our business is increasing year after year. Though, our objective is not to earn a profit but to cater to the financial needs of the farmers and local villagers in the best possible ways”.
“Our plan is to construct warehouses and cold storages at Vambori, Guha village and Rahuri taluka with a capacity of 1,000 metric tons soon. In our area there are no Godowns for farmers, it will be a big relief if our plan gets implemented”, he said on the phone.
Established in 1993, the society has deposits more than Rs 59 crore and a working share capital of around Rs 70 crore. In the last financial year i.e. 2021-22, the society earned a net profit of Rs 85 lakh. The CD Ratio is 62 percent and the number of members and account holders are over 25k.
Wable further said, “We have a network of 6 branches but we are planning to expand it in the near future. All our branches are equipped with the Computerized core banking system. We are also providing Micro ATM facility, Internet banking, mobile banking, RTGS, NEFT, IMPS facility and others”.
“One of our branches namely Rahuri is having a locker facility. We are providing Personal Loan, Housing Loan, Business Growth Cash Credit Loan, Auto Loan Deposit Loans, Gold Lending Loans, Educational Loan Facilities, Women Self Help Group Loans, Agricultural Supplies Immediate loan for business to our customers”, he informed.
Recently a delegation led by Suresh Wable, who doubles as the Chairman of Maharashtra Federation of Multistate Cooperative Credit Societies (FMCCS) visited Delhi and met the Central Registrar for inviting him at a state level cooperative conference to be organized at Shirdi, Maharashtra next month.
A few days back while inaugurating IMPS service of the society, RBI Central Board Director and Sahakar Bharati Patron Satish Marathe lauded the efforts of the society in upgrading themselves with the latest technology.
Marathe wrote on social media, ” Cr CoOps should emulate village level Tech enabled Prerna Cr CoOp ! That is the Road Ahead for Credit CoOps – to serve the underprivileged and emerge as a potent instrument to usher in socio – economic changes in rural India”.
