Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is giving special focus on strengthening Primary Agricultural Credit Societies across India but in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and some others, the employees of PACCs are agitating against the government for not fulfilling their scores of demands.
The newly created National Cooperative PACCS Employees Union delegation met the Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma at his residence recently and submitted the memorandum in regard to their demands.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent Rajesh Kumar Dutt, National General Secretary, National Cooperative PACCS Employees Union said, “We have met the Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma and urged him to resolve the issues pertaining to the PACCs employees.”
“PACCs across the country are playing an important role in helping the farmers with KCC loans, distributing seeds & fertilizers, procurement of paddy and others”, he added.
“PACCs employees are not getting any benefit in the context of giving their services. Employees are not getting salaries. There are many issues related to PACCs employees which are to be resolved at the earliest”, Dutt added.
It is learned that the PACCs employees at Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are agitating in a big way. The Jodhpur (Rajasthan) unit of PACCs employees Union has recently written a letter to State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and urged him to fulfill the pending demands of the employees.
According to their letter, there are around 7500 primary level co-ops in the state and they play a role in taking the schemes of state government at the grassroots level but still employees are facing many difficulties. Their demands included regularizing the employees, all the employees of the co-operative societies should be made state employees by forming a cadre according to their post and others.
A few days back the employees of PACCs in Madhya Pradesh agitated for their demands. In Indore, about 600 employees of 120 PACCs protested against the government.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Cooperation led by Amit Shah is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that PACS undertake more than 25 business activities like dairy, fisheries, setting up godowns, LPG, banking correspondents and others. The computerization of PACCs process is also underway.
Many new initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of Cooperation to strengthen PACCs and make them viable.
