National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Bansal has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of Network for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives in Asia and the Pacific (NEDAC). The tenure of the newly elected committee will be of two years.
The election was held during the NEDAC General Assembly and Executive Committee Meeting 2022 from 3-6 November 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The meeting was hosted by Asian Institute of Technology in which top notch cooperators for Indian including IFFCO and NCUI Chairman Dileepbhai Sangahni, ICA-AP President Dr Chandra Pal Singh, Nafscob Chairman K Ravindra Rao, Nafed MD Rajbir Singh, Indian Potash Limited MD P S Gahlaut and others were present.
On this occasion, it was unanimously decided to have the agri cooperative NAFED as a regular member of the Executive Committee of NEDAC.
The NEDAC was set up in 1991 under the aegis of FAO. The twin aims of NEDAC are to encourage intra trade through co-operatives of the member states and capacity building
Headquartered in Bangkok the NEDAC is a regional forum linking more than 57 cooperative organizations from 9 countries. The highest number of members of NEDAC is from India, which includes around 40 cooperatives.
