NACOF launches energy arm; vows to revolutionize farm techniques

In a bid to revolutionize farming practices and bolster agricultural efficiency, Nacof Oorja, a renewable energy developer backed by Nacof, a multi-state cooperative society under the Ministry of Agriculture, has unveiled its latest initiative.

The company has announced the formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), christened E Astra Nacof Oorja Pvt Ltd, aimed at advancing sustainable farming techniques and rendering cultivation a lucrative venture.

Ram Iqbal Singh has been appointed as the Chairman of NACOF Oorja. Talking to the Indian Cooperative NACOF leader said, the SPV is poised to serve the farming populace of India by furnishing them with an array of battery-operated equipment and vehicles.

He said the newly established SPV will specialize in providing cutting-edge agricultural machinery such as the E-Weeder, E-Reaper, E-Brush Cutter, and the E-Cargo multi-utility 3-wheeler. Additionally, it will introduce a ground breaking 20-liter Milking Cum Chiller unit tailored to promote sustainable dairy farming practices, Singh added.

Notably, E Astra has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center tasked with developing a revolutionary Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) that governs all electric vehicle functions. This innovation, based on Electric Vehicle Range Extender technology, promises to redefine the landscape of agricultural mechanization.

Ram Iqbal Singh emphasized the significance of empowering farmers with indigenous and affordable agricultural equipment powered by clean energy sources. Singh expressed confidence that the integration of digital farming solutions, incorporating artificial intelligence and data analytics, would furnish farmers with crucial insights into crop management, weather patterns, and irrigation, thereby streamlining agricultural operations.

The announcement of the SPV comes hot on the heels of Nacof Oorja’s strategic partnership with a Nashik-based electric mobility startup, underscoring the company’s concerted efforts to augment rural and agricultural mobility across India.
