Sikar district witnessed a landmark initiative in the advancement of agriculture-based enterprises as the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) launched a five-day training program for chief executives of farmers’ producer organizations (FPOs) and members of the directorate.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Padma Shri Sundaram Varma, marked a significant step towards empowering rural areas through agricultural entrepreneurship.
Under the auspices of the Producer Organization Development Fund (PODF) of NABARD, CEOs and directorate members from various FPOs in Sikar district convened to participate in this strategic training initiative. The opening ceremony, presided over by District Magistrate Sikar, DDMA Sikar, and Assistant General Manager at NABARD, M.L. Meena, set the tone for the program.
District Magistrate Sikar, M.L. Meena, stressed the necessity of active participation by all FPO board members and CEOs in ensuring the success of these organizations. He encouraged them to harness the social capital of farmer shareholders, combining it with business skills for effective results.
DDMA Meena highlighted the vast opportunities in agriculture-based value chains through FPOs, potentially leading to a substantial increase in farmers’ income.
The event, attended by over 50 participants, including CEOs and board members from various FPOs in Sikar district and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), marked a crucial step towards fostering agricultural entrepreneurship in rural areas. NABARD’s commitment to sustainable rural development was evident in this initiative, aligning with its vision for a prosperous and empowered rural India.
