In a major development, IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of the newly constituted- National Level Multi State Seed Cooperative Society, in an election held on Thursday.
He was elected during the 1st Annual General Body meeting of the Seed Cooperative Society, held at IFFCO’s headquarters located in Saket. Kribhco Chairman Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and NCDC MD Pankaj Bansal were the proposer and seconder of Yogendra Kumar. Mrs Suman Kumari, Asstt Registrar was appointed as the Returning Officer of this election.
The cooperatives, which are part of the ambitious project, include IFFCO, Kribhco, NAFED and two government-aided bodies NDDB and NCDC. The board members include, Bijendra Singh, Chairman, Nafed, Chandra Pal Singh, Chairman, Kribhco, Meenesh Shah, Chairman and MD, NDDB and Pankaj Kumar Bansal, MD, NCDC.
Congratulating Kumar through social media, IFFCO Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani wrote, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director, IFFCO, for his appointment as the Chairman of National Seed Cooperative Society Limited”.
As soon the news of Kumar’s election broke, the social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages. The who’s who from the cooperative world lost no time in congratulating him. From IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi to other junior and senior employees of fertilizer giant and others greeted Kumar on his victory.
Kumar has a rich experience of over 36 years of working in cooperatives in various positions. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.
He is known for his dynamism which is reflected in his work as well. He has been instrumental in the development of IFFCO’s Sagarika product. During his journey, Kumar also has made significant contributions to the promotion of Neem with an aim of increasing the production of Neem oil and various other useful Neem based products.
The seed cooperative society under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002 which will act as an apex organization for production, procurement, processing, branding, labelling, packaging, storage, marketing and distribution of quality seeds; strategic research & development; and for developing a system for preservation and promotion of indigenous natural seeds.

The seed multistate co-op will have an authorized share capital of Rs 500 crore and an initial paid-up share capital of Rs 250 crore. The five co-ops will contribute Rs 50 crore each, he added.
As of now the Seed Cooperative office is operating from Kribhco’s head office at Noida but it will later be shifted to a new location at World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi.
