As we reported earlier in these columns, Madhya Pradesh government is preparing for the appointment of non-government administrators and in this series the Cooperative Department of MP has appointed congress leader Virendra Singh as Administrator in Shajapur Zila Sahkari Bank.
Singh was previously a member on the board of the bank and is currently the president of the Shajapur Marketing Society. The order was issued and Singh took charge as the Administrator of Bank recently.
However, there was a complaint being aired in the Congress party circles that Singh had worked against the Congress candidate in the last election. Given complaints decision has been taken that appointments in bulk will be made in DCCBs.
The appointment was stalled for a few days following objections at the organization level but Virender Singh was secretly made the administrator recently.
A list of cooperative leaders of districts for appointment as administrators prepared by the Apex Bank had been sent to State Cooperative Minister Dr Govind Singh.
Meanwhile, it is said that MP Chief Minister is closely monitoring the affairs of co-ops and has asked State co-op minister to finalize the names soon. Departmental officials say administrators will be deployed in all banks within a month.
Besides, elections to cooperative banks are not likely to happen any time soon. Administrators are being appointed for the normal functioning of the banks.
Administrators have been already appointed by Apex Bank to Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul, Bhind, Damoh DCCBs and some others.
The Congress government is planning to accommodate their people in other cooperatives as well at the district level. There are over 4800 PACCS in the state and the government is planning to appoint administrators in these societies also.
