Sambarapu Bhoomaiah claims to be the convener of Sahakar Samrakshan Samithi- a cooperative body based in Hyderabad and belonging to Telangana. Bhoomaiah has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has reminded him that he carries Amul’s DNA and must deliver in so far as cooperative is concerned.
In a straight way he demands “ Infuse Rs 50,000 crores capital to co-op banks to weed out NPA’s and accumulated losses- on a par with commercial banks- to avert the Walmart kind of incident in Indian economy.”
The Sahakara Samrakshanan Samithi (Cooperative Movement Protection Council) a forum for cooperatives and co-operators, is striving for the protection of the cooperative movement, and cooperative philosophy, he reminds.
In his letter he says “Modijee, your good self is from the state where Amul is headquartered, where the weakest citizens (the downtrodden) are made to live with pride and social respect, because of Amul’ with its cooperative concept.”
Sir, you are aware that the cooperative economic system is not an internal part of the market economy (investor’s economy). It is the protective economic measure from the exploitative nature of market economy. It makes all the members (users) economically self reliant, whereas in Market Economy only the fittest survives, he says.
Here, we remind you sir, you have witnessed how the Amul Milk Cooperative had nourished and protected small hut dwellers from social and economic exploitation and made them rise with pride and social respect to the present international status. It is a vibrant example of cooperative concept, he concludes.
