In the very first meeting of the Committee, set up to recommend Amendments to the Maharashtra Co-Op Societies Act Satish Matrathe and his team envisioned their slew of goals the most important of which is the automatic registration of a co-op society.
It is an issue over which cooperators have long been exercised especially in the face of the 97th CAA proving a non-starter for more than half a decade now.
Marathe and his team aim to empower co-operatives – both in terms of legal and financial strength. This will lead to the growth of cooperatives for sure, claims Marathe.
Value Creation through processing of agri produce, good governance, professionalism, autonomy & ease in operations and robust mechanism to review if important co-operatives are properly working are some of the other issues the Committee aims to achieve.
The Committee is also of the view that there should be Review of Recovery & Quasi Judicial Powers, Promotion of new co-operatives to impart Training/Skill Development , Creation of new avenues for raising capital and long term fund, Promotion of NewGen CoOps in areas of Insurance, Mutual Funds, Water, Power, etc
Despite having entrusted with several high-profile co-operative assignments such as reframing of the co-op act of Maharashtra or committee membership of RBI, Satish Marathe the patron of Sahakar Bharati has not slacked his pace even a bit when it comes to attending to the routine work of Sahakar Bharati.
His FB wall every morning is filled with activities that span the whole of India. “Reaching Blore for Team & K’taka State Executive Committee Mtgs”, Marathe wrote on social media. “Reaching Pune to Chair the 1st Meeting of the Committee, set up to recommend Amendments to Maharashtra Co-op Societies Act” , he next writes.
His friends call him a tireless co-operative sepoy dedicated to the growth of the cooperative movement even as they find him always busy with the activities of Sahakar Bharati.
