The apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks- Maharashtra Urban Cooperative Banks Federation (MUCBF) is in election mode and for 11 seats 25 candidates are in the fray. The election is scheduled for 12 November and counting will be done on 14th November 2022.
In the election two panels are in the race. One is headed by the Lasalgaon Merchants Cooperative Bank Chairman Ajay Bramhecha and another panel led by the MUCBF outgoing president Vidyadhar Anaskar.
The MUCBF board consists of 21 elected directors out of which 10 directors have been elected unopposed and the winning elected directors are from the Ajay Bramhecha’s Sahakar Panel.
The main tussle in the elections will be in three constituencies including Pune, Mumbai and the constituency of women. And from these constituencies many eminent cooperators are trying their luck.
From Pune constituency 4 candidates are in the fray but only two are to be elected whereas from Mumbai 9 candidates are in the race but only three are to be elected. Four candidates are in the election from the women category out of which only two are to be elected.
Coming to the Mumbai constituency, the Sahakar Panel has fielded three candidates who include Apna Sahakari Bank Chairman Dattaram Chalke, NKGSB Cooperative Bank Director Sandeep Prabhu and Kishore Rangnekar, Director, Saraswat Cooperative Bank. And those fighting from Anaskar’s Panel are Sitaram Adsul, Sandeep Gandat, Chairman Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank and Pravin Darekar, Raigad Sahakari Bank. There are three candidates contesting the election independently as well. The total voters are 38.
Whereas from the Women constituency, Barmhecha’s Panel has fielded Shashi Ahire, Chairman, Nashik District Women Cooperative Bank who is also Maharashtra Sahakar Bharati President and Jawahar Sahakari Bank Director Vaishali Awade. Anaskar’s Panel’s Shobha Sawant, Chairman, Annasaheb Sawant Cooperative UCB and Sangita Kankariya are contesting the election.

From the Kokon Region, Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank Chairman Uttam joshi and DNS Bank Director Milind Arolkar are contesting but one candidate is to be elected.
From the Scheduled Caste category Janakalyan Sahakari Bank Chairman Nanasaheb Sonwae, Vishnu Ghumre and Jayant Jalgaonkar are fighting the MUCBF election.
The total eligible voters in the elections are 240. Pratap Patil has been appointed as the returning officer to oversee the election process.
The Sahakar Panel candidates are from the Sahakar Bharati and it is learnt that the fight is between Sahakar Bharati and Vidyadhar Anaskar.
