A mega cooperative event aimed at cherishing the memories of late Ramnikbhai Dhami was organized recently at Hemugadhvi Hall in Rajkot in which several cooperators from across the country participated. The Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Rupani admired the contribution of late Dhami in various sectors of social life including co-operative. Ramnikbhai is credited with founding the Rajkot Bank, also known as Raj Bank in 1980.
Late Dhami was also Vice-Chairman of KRIBHCO, Director at IFFCO and at NAFCUB. He also rendered his services to several other top cooperative organizations.
The occasion also saw presence of Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President of the apex body of cooperatives in the country, NCUI. Yadav, who presided the show remembered Ramnikbhai fondly and lauded his role in furthering the cooperative movement not only in Gujarat but also in the rest of India.
Governor of Karnataka Shri Vajubhai Vala, who also graced the occasion shared his views on the legendary cooperator.
The event was organized by his son and CEO of Rajkot Bank, Kamal Dhami who remembered how his father Ramnikbhai established Raj Bank and how the UCB has never looked back following his core values.
Under Ramnikbhai’s able leadership the bank had successfully completed 33 years and for the last five years his son Kamal Dhami has been working as its Chief Development officer with utmost efficiency, said a Rajkot cooperator to Indian Cooperative.

Giving details of the event the press release read that “the event saw presence of co-operative dignitaries from all over the country which included Dr Bijender Singh, Vaghjibhai Boda, Dr Sunil Kumar Singh, Jyotindra Mehta, Jayesh Radadiya, Dileepbhai Sanghani, Narhari Amin, Pareshbhai Patel, Bhikhabhai Patel, Siby Monipally, Dolarbhai Kotecha, D K Sakhiya and others.
Well-known personalities like Devendrabhai Desai, Nareshbhai Patel, (Khodaldham) Mauleshbhai Ukani (Umiyadham), Anjaliben Rupani, Govindbhai Patel, Mandhatasinh Jadeja were also present in the event.
Popular speaker Jay Vasavada lucidly described the life of Ramnikbhai Dhami before the audience. Besides Raj Bank, late Dhami also established NASCO- Rajkot and Shri Ramnikbhai Dhami Shaikshnik Sankul-Upleta. The respective chairmen of both the organizations Kanubhai Kalawadiya and Kamalnayan Sojitra expressed their gratitude towards Shri Ramnikbhai on this occasion.
