Giving a hint of the things to come in the wake of the results of the ICAO elections scheduled for June 17 in Spain, ICA AP President Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said that India will have the highest number of representations on the ICA global board.
It needs to be mentioned that a big continent of co-operators from India is packing its bag to participate in the General Assembly of ICA being held in Spain. There would also be elections for the ICA global board as well as for the sectoral bodies including ICAO.
Chandra Pal was speaking at a cooperative event at the NCUI headquarters in Delhi when he said that the victory of Dileep Sanghani and Aditya Yadav is a surety. “I have visited several countries during the last few weeks and I got a clear signal that the duo will win in their respective contests.
It bears recall that Sanghani is fighting for the presidency of ICAO- a sectoral ICA body, and Aditya Yadav is defending his position on ICA Board. While its the first time for Sanghani, Aditya had been elected last time and is seeking re-election.
Being ICA AP President, Dr Chandra Pal Singh goes to the ICA Board automatically and the same would be true for Sanghani if he wins the ICAO top position. This would mean India will have the highest representation in the global body.
It bears recalling that Sanghani is busy touring countries seeking support for his candidature. He was recently in Malaysia and Thailand. He says that the IFFCO team gets a warm welcome wherever it goes. It was well-received by the ANGKASA president who was quoted as saying that he is very pleased when the world’s best cooperative, IFFCO, is discussing strategic cooperation that can be developed to provide long-term benefits to the movement.
Presenting himself as the one who has logged 40 years in public service as the voice of the ordinary co-op members, Sanghani presented his vision for a truly successful co-op movement.
Similarly, Aditya Yadav has also toured several countries seeking votes. Given IFFCO’s goodwill and teamwork by the co-op titan, his victory is said to be not tough.
