In a significant recognition of his contributions to the cooperative sector, Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Sahakarita Ratna Award’ by the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative (IFFCO). The award ceremony will take place during IFFCO’s 53rd Annual General Meeting on May 30, 2024, informed sources said.
The ‘Sahakarita Ratna Award’ is being bestowed upon Rathore for his exceptional efforts in promoting the cooperative movement at the grassroots level, the source added.
Rathore’s initiatives have been pivotal in revitalizing district cooperative banks across Uttar Pradesh and effectively linking farmers with Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
JPS Rathore, a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, serves as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. He holds the position of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Cooperation in the Second Yogi Adityanath ministry.
Rathore has been instrumental in advancing cooperative policies and ensuring the effective implementation of various schemes aimed at benefiting farmers and the rural economy.
Rathore’s political journey began with his tenure as the State Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Shahjahanpur from 2000 to 2005. His educational background is impressive; after completing his primary education in his native village, he attended Government Inter College for his intermediate studies. Rathore then pursued higher education at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where he earned both his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from IIT BHU.
Born in Mohanpur, Mamrejpur, Rathore is the son of Balram Singh Rathore and Saroj Rathore. He is married to Priya Singh Rathore, and they have two sons.
The ‘Sahakarita Ratna Award’ comes with a citation and a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh. This accolade underscores Rathore’s dedicated service and significant achievements in strengthening the cooperative framework in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting countless farmers and rural communities.
