Idea of Cooperative Chair in Bangalore University mooted

Prof. B.K.Ravi, Registrar of Bangalore University who was the chief guest at a co-operative function mooted the idea of a co-op chair at the university. Ravi suggested “A chair for Cooperation will be established with the cooperation of Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative”. He also appreciated the activities of the souharda federal.

It bears recall that an awareness programme for the students about the Cooperative Movement was arranged by Karnataka State Souharda federal Cooperative Ltd., and Department of Economics of Bangalore University recently at Pro. K. Venkatagiri Gowda memorial hall.

The programme was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof Venugopal.K.R of Bangalore University. He said that this is a very good programme which creates an awareness about the working style of the cooperative movement its achievements, its challenges, its strengths and finally the opportunities how best the cooperatives would serve the common man.

The VC said cooperative movement is a best instruments for the economic development of the country. Its achievements are appreciable. Youths needs to involve in this movement & they should be given information about the working of the cooperative movement of the country and the ways and means to involve themselves in the movement.

“Youths are the main target groups for cooperative education”, said B.H.Krishna Reddy, President, Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd., Bangalore.
Mr.B.H.Krishna Reddy presided to over the function. He said Karnataka State Souharda federal Cooperative Ltd., is a statutory body formed under the Karnataka State Souharda Act of 1997. It take care of all 4500 souharda cooperatives of the state. Its main activities are Regulatory, Education, training & Propaganda of the souharda movement. Along with all other training and educational activities it has targeted youths at the university level to educate them about the working of cooperative movement of the country.

Mr. Sathishchandra, President, CAMPCO, Mangalore and Dr. S.A. Sidhanthi, Retired Director of Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Bangalore, spoke about the growth of cooperative movement in the country and abroad, its achievements and the role of youths.

Dr. R. Shashikumar, presided over the interaction session. Mr. Sharnagouda G Patil, Managing Director, KSSFCl, Bangalore, Mr. M.D.Narashimamrthy, Joint Registrar of Cooperative department, Sri. M. Rudamurthy, Principle, Apex bank staff training centre, Sri.S.Chandrashekar, Assistant Director of Cooperative Audit, Smt. H.G.Shobha, Journalist, were the resource persons on the dais to interact with the students for their questions.

Sri. D.Hanumathaiah, Director of Apex bank, Sri. B.S.Gundurao,Director of KSSFCL, Professors, lecturers and more than 200 students of Economic department of the university participated in the interaction programme.

In the beginning Mr. Sharanagoud G Patil, Managing Director, KSSFCL Bangalore gave a warm welcome to the guests and participants and also narrated objective of the programme. Sri. Narayan Hegde, Bangalore Division Office of KSSFCL, gave a vote of thanks to all.
