NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav went to meet the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh early morning Wednesday to expedite the issue of Prime Minister’s participation in the upcoming international event ICA A-P Regional Assembly scheduled for November this year.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Yadav said” I requested him to expedite the matter as the day of function is drawing closer and closure. We wish to know for once if the Prime Minister is coming; it would help us prepare accordingly”, he added.
Readers would recall a news item in these columns titled” ICA-(AP) : Venue vacillates awaiting PM’s yes”. Now it appears Prime Minister’s office had made some queries to Agriculture Minister about the event and was awaiting its response. NCUI President’s meeting with the Minister has expedited the matter in the sense that a response from the Ministry to PMO is being readied.
“NCUI had answered all the queries and sent them to the Ministry which in turn is supposed to pass them on to the Prime Minister office. It would be done in a day or two now as the matter has been brought to the notice of the Minister, ”, said Chandra Pal.
Readers would note the most crucial of all-the venue of the international event is still not final as it awaits confirmation from the Prime Minister. Though NCUI has booked Ashoka Hotel in Delhi but with the PM’s confirmation it could be shifted to Vigyan Bhavan.
More than 500 cooperators are expected to participate in the event. NCUI sources say the number of foreign delegates could be 250. The Coordination Committee formed to oversee the preparations had decided to reduce the registration fees for Indian delegates in its last meeting.
