N Satyanarayan took over charge on Monday from the outgoing CE Dr Dinesh but hesitated to occupy the latter’s chamber even after staff members had promptly changed the name plate of the CE chamber.
“I prefer to work from my old place”, Satyanarayan told this correspondent when he requested him to pose for a photograph from the designated chamber. Hordes of chuckling employees surrounded him in the EC chamber with a wish to get photographed with him.
“He is one among us; he is a true son of the soil”, said an employee underlining the fact that mostly the CEs are planted from the outside and this one is an exception.
“He may not have great communication skills but we all know he is transparent and simple; he is a man of integrity”, echoed many at the NCUI headquarters.
When asked about his first priorities Satyanarayan said” training being the core job of the NCUI; we would focus on this more and more. Another challenge before me would be to complete the pending Profile-making project of the NCUI”- a job which has survived several CEs and heads so far.
Data compilation of cooperative societies active in the country is a big challenge facing the NCUI. While it never tires of boasting that India is home to 6 lakh cooperatives and 25 crore cooperators, it has yet to update the data available.
The outgoing CE Dr Dinesh promised to lend all help to the new CE. He asked Kutty the PS of CE to make a list of all the pending jobs. “I will sit with the new CE to brief him on all even if it means taking 2-3 days leave from my University”, he promised.
CRs, promotions and several issues related to the welfare of staff members are to be decided sooner than later, said a source to Indian Cooperative. Satyanarayan’s moves are likely to be watched closely by the media now as he enters the public domain.
Heartiest Congratulations Satyanaryan ji. Best wishes for your future endeavors.
