India’s apex co-op institute VAMNICOM conducted a half-day awareness cum training program on “Empowerment of programme and Women Nutrition” in collaboration with Laxmi Bai Mahila Nagari Sahakari Bank at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh last week.
G20-Theme-based programs for women cooperative bank members and farmers were held. In a press release Vamnico said “This program was designed under the G20 theme of Women-led development under the guidance of Dr. Hema Yadav, Director, VAMNICOM, Pune.”
The objective of the exercise was to conduct a G20 theme-based program for women in the cooperative sector. The VAMNICOM has teamed up with Laxmi Bai Mahila Nagari Sahakari Bank in Gwalior active since 1960.
In the program, 150 women participated from different parts of Gwalior city. The chief guest was Smt. Maya Singh (Ex-Minister, and MP) and the special invitee was Smt. Meena Mudha (Women’s health expert).
Maya Singh expressed her views about women’s empowerment and women’s role in the development of society. Meena Mudha talked about deficiencies of iron, calcium which could lead to different kinds of anaemia.
Dr. Pallavi Ingale (VAMNICOM, Pune) introduced the G20 theme of women-led development and briefly commented on the agenda. The contributions of Laxmi Bai Mahila cooperative bank into supporting women were discussed by Smt. Alka Srivastav.
Amit Mudgal (ICM, Bhopal) described the meaning of women farmers and shared details on different government schemes. Dr. Priyadarshni Srivatava underlined the importance of nutrition for teenagers and women. She explained the meaning of nutrition and its significance in different phases of life of women.
Women’s health and the challenges faced by women were shared by Dr. Veena Pardhan. Smt. Anjali Batra cited many examples of successful women entrepreneurs to motivate women. She also explained how to identify opportunities and talent for business.
This program was a great success. Women expressed interest to know more about business and nutrition.
