Gujarat Fed organizes seminar for credit co-ops of Surat; Amin presides

A two-day Cooperative Educational Training Seminar under the joint aegis of The Gujarat State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation and Surat District Cooperative Credit Societies Federation was held recently at Khanwel Resort, Silvassa. This Seminar was attended by 150 representatives (Chairmen/ Secretaries /Directors/Managers) of various credit societies of Surat District and by eminent co-operators of the cooperative institutes of Silvassa.

Ghanshyambhai Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union, Ahmedabad, and Gujarat State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation presided over the seminar. The event was inaugurated by Maheshbhai Shah, Chairman of Sabarkantha District Cooperative Bank and Vice Chairman of the Federation. Several leading cooperators representing cooperative organizations graced the occasion with their presence, informs a press note issued by the organizations.

In his presidential remarks, Ghanshyambhai Amin touched on various issues such as income tax, cash transactions being faced by the Cooperative Credit Societies, the Banking Amendment Bill, and the 97th Constitutional Amendment. Amin stressed the importance of the role of Cooperative Institutes in the development of the State and Nation. He said the Credit Societies cater to the needs of the people at the grassroots level and therefore their significance exceeds that of Banks.

Inaugurating the event, Maheshbhai Patel, the Chairman of Sabarkantha District Co-operative Bank elaborated on the Cooperative Movement and its activities saying there is a significant contribution of cooperative bodies in the development of Gujarat.The financial and agricultural needs of the the farmers and other needy people are met by District Cooperative Banks. Patel added that cooperative institutes contribute in realizing the dream of doubling the income of the farmers envisaged by Narendrabhai Modi, Prime Minister of India. Prosperity is possible only through cooperation, he noted.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Vinitkumar Mundra the Chairman of Dadra Nagar Haveli Cooperative Union said the big works are materialized through small Cooperative Institutes. He also admired the great work being done by Ghanshyambhai Amin in the cooperative sector and praised his contributions to the growth and development of the Cooperative activities in Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Many other cooperators also spoke on the occasion discussing issues related to the cooperator sector. All the speakers emphasized the importance of cooperatives including credit societies in tackling the challenge of poverty in society.

On the occasion Ghanshyambhai Amin presented the book authored by him in English on the Cooperative Act and his biography ” KALYANPATHNA KARMYOGI” to all the guests. Gordhanbhai Lathiya moved a vote of thanks.
