Expanding its footprints, the RSS affiliated co-op organization Sahakar Bharati opened an office at Sikkim, which was inaugurated by State Governor Ganga Prasad last week in the presence of office bearers of Sahakar Bharati’s state chapter.
The new office has been set up at Ranipool, which is 11 kilometers far from the State Capital Gangtok. On this occasion, the Governor announced a help of Rs 2 lakh to the organization for running its activities smoothly.
It is worth mentioning that Sahakar Bharati, which is working for strengthening the cooperative movement of the country, has now focused on North Eastern Regions, where the cooperative movement has not yet taken concrete shape.
While addressing the gathering the Governor said, “The cooperation movement should be taken to the last man of society with full enthusiasm and zeal. He further urged everyone to come together and work hard to make Sikkim a brand and a model other states would emulate”.
In his speech, Sahakar Bharati Sikkim Unit Presidenti Mangal Jit Rai highlighted the organization’s activities. Our endeavor is to create a strong and devoted cadre of selfless and dedicated co-operators who would be well equipped to spread the knowledge of the co-operative Movement which in the present circumstances can ‘save and uplift Small farmers, Landless Labourers, Tribals, Rural Artisans, Jobless Technicians and Consumers from middle- and lower-income groups”, he asserted.
Rai further added that we are also organizing meetings, awareness programs and enlightening people and karyakartas about the Co-operative movement and the achievements of the movement.
The local MLAs, Government officials, Zilla & gram panchayat members and Sahakar Bharati executive members, and others were present on the occasion.
Jetsun Lama, Sikkim idol winner presented a melodious patriotic song which won everyone’s heart.
