Delegates from across the country had come to participates in the annual function with the aim of finding a platform where they can voice their concerns. Readers would recall that union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh had recently talked about igniting Blue Revolution in the country.
Prior to the AGM, a host of notable personalities such as NCUI Chief Executive Dr Dinesh, NCDC Chief Director Manoj Acharjee deliberated along with Fishcopfed Chairman Prakash Lonare, MD B K Mishra and others on the issue of improving the lot of fishermen in the country.
Lonare said that the country has already witnessed White and Green Revolutions and now it is time for Blue Revolution which we will surely happen in collaboration with GOI and Fishcopfed. He also said that NCUI and NCDC had been important collaborators for us and now we are reaching out at international level.
MD B K Mishra informed that Fishcopfed earned a net profit of Rs 44 lakhs this year. It is less than one crore that we earned last year but do not forget that we gave VRS to four employees and had to spend Rs 60 lakhs. If you add up the amount the profit did not dwindle. We saved close to Rs 4 crore in the long run, he added.
I am happy with the growth of our business activities, we have also earned from DAT marketing this year. We expanded the insurance scheme to 41 lakh fishermen, he informed.
But Mishra did not forget to mention that governmental support has to be there for Fishcopfed to grow. Besides being made partner in the Blue Revolution, we need more support in terms of training, Mishra said.
Dr Dinesh, the chief executive of NCUI (National Cooperative Union Of India) assured the assembled gathering that with our specialized training arm NCUI would cater to the training needs of the fishermen. He focused especially on women and emphasized their training needs.
On this occasion Fishcopfed also made a presentation detailing its various activities to the assembled gathering.
Managing Director FISHCOPFED is doing tremendous work to achieve target. He is also recognised by International Cooperative Fisheries Organisation( re-elected Vice President). I have congratulate him for better future.
