At a major state-level event in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and several cabinet ministers hailed Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s leadership as transformative for the cooperative sector.
Drawing a striking comparison, Dr. Yadav described Shah as a “philosopher’s stone,” saying that every department he handles turns into “gold.”
Dr. Yadav noted that key agreements signed in Shah’s presence are paving new paths for development, especially in rural Madhya Pradesh. He emphasized the vast potential of cooperative models in agriculture and allied sectors, pointing to the state’s expanding network of multi-purpose cooperative societies.
These societies, he said, will now be involved in operating petrol pumps, medical stores, and other essential services, ensuring last-mile delivery of public welfare.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of dairy farming in improving household incomes. Highlighting his own experience, he said that cow rearing and milk production offer sustainable sources of livelihood.
With the goal of boosting Madhya Pradesh’s share in national milk production from 9% to 20%, the state has rolled out a subsidy scheme for cattle rearing and plans to purchase cow milk directly from farmers. Dr. Yadav reiterated the state’s vision of creating a “Gokul in every home.”
Cooperation Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang called the day “historic” for the cooperative movement and white revolution in the state. He credited the introduction of the CPP (Cooperative Public-Private Partnership) model as a pioneering step, blending public, private, and cooperative efforts to drive sustainable rural growth.
Animal Husbandry Minister Lakhan Patel and MP V.D. Sharma praised the agreements facilitated by Amit Shah, stating they would bring Gujarat’s successful cooperative dairy model to Madhya Pradesh. Sharma called it a “precious gift” to the state.
Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), announced the signing of a cooperative agreement between NDDB, the Madhya Pradesh government, and six milk unions. The agreement aims to strengthen dairy infrastructure, provide farmer training, support marketing efforts, and empower women under the broader goals of White Revolution 2.0.
With the backing of the Union government and strategic MoUs in place, the state aims to usher in a new era of cooperative-led rural development, increased milk production, and improved farmer incomes.
