Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh urged NABARD to make its agriculture loan process easier along with its banking facilities so that they can grant the required loans on time. The Union Minister said all possible efforts are being made to double the farmers’ income.
The Minister was addressing the valedictory function of one day National Seminar on “Doubling of Farmers’ Income by 2022’’ organized by NABARD on its 35th Foundation Day on Tuesday.
Sharing the event details Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh tweeted : “Congratulations to #NABARD for extending Rs 10,000 crores to 10.5 lakh joint liability groups of landless farmers in just 2 years”.
In another tweet he urged banks to give farmers loans through Jhan Dhan Yozana, Adhar Card. He tweeted “Urge banks to disburse farmer loans with speed and ease thro #JanDhan, #AdhaarCard, Mobile e-banking n facilitate standardization of forms”.
Singh further said they should also work on to standardize the documents required for the sanction of loans. He added we should ensure that loan applying process might be conducted online and agriculture loans should be provided within the scheduled time-frame.
A long term irrigation fund has been set up with a cluster fund of Rs. 20,000 crore with the cooperation of NABARD so as to complete some of the larger irrigation projects, he added.
To chalk out strategy for this purpose, a committee has been constituted in Ministry of Agriculture under the Chairmanship of Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Additional Secretary. NCAER along with this committee is being associated as a knowledge organization. He while expressing his views said NABARD will develop the programmes and products concerned so as to double the income of the farmers.
