Bihar State Cooperative Bank organized its 72th Annual General Meeting on Saturday at Patna, which was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad and State Cooperative Minister Subhash Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the meeting Prasad said that small and marginal farmers of the state have an important role in the development of any state. The central government as well as our government have taken important steps in this direction.
Praising the efforts of the Central Government, he said that the government of India has taken several steps towards making Ease of Doing Business easier for cooperatives and for this they have created a separate ministry for cooperation, which is commendable.
“Our government will set up Sahakar Bhawan in every district of the state with an objective to strengthen co-ops. In several districts these Bhawans have been constructed, due to which arrangements are being made for proper monitoring and guidance of the works being done by cooperative societies under one roof.
On the occasion, Subash Singh assured that the demands related to co-operative banks would be considered.
The State Cooperative Bank Chairman Ramesh Chandra Chaubey demanded that the state government should provide interest-free loans to PACS and agriculture loans to farmers at zero interest rate for procurement of paddy. In many states, interest free loans are provided to PACS for procurement of paddy.
He further added that, our bank is continuously in profit and being the apex entity of three tier credit structure is successfully implementing procurement and other co-operative schemes.
Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh and representatives from several district cooperative banks also attended the AGM.
Ara Central Cooperative Bank Limited and Magadh Central Cooperative Bank Limited were given awards for their excellent performance. In addition, two branches of State Co-operative Bank Bankipur and Maurya Lok were also given awards for their excellent work.
The program was conducted by Deputy General Manager Manoj Kumar Singh and a vote of thanks was proposed by Akhilesh Kumar, Managing Director of the bank.
