Following a favourable response from the Raman Singh govt in Chhatisgarh, the State Cooperative Union has sought the help of the apex national body of cooperatives NCUI in preparing a project report for setting up a Cooperative University in the state.
Talking to Indian Cooperative, State Co-operative Union President Lakhan Lal Sahu said ” the CM is receptive to the idea. We have received a letter from the office of the Registrar of Cooperatives asking for submission of a project report on the proposed University.” he said.
”Since the NCUI has been active in the field of cooperative training and education we look up to it to help us prepare a thorough report,” Sahu said. We do not want this chance to go away, he added. Sahu was earlier on the NCUI Board.
The letter received from the Registrar’s office says ” boosting the cooperative movement in the state is one of the top priorities of the state govt and your request is being entertained, please submit a detailed project Report”, Sahu said handling over a copy of the letter to this correspondent.

Sahu met Chief Minister Raman Singh and requested him to help him in reaching out to schools. Singh has reportedly asked all the District Magistrates to help the state cooperative union.
Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Union is also building a huge cooperative Bhavan with all the costs being borne by the state govt, he informed. Spread over 2 acres of land in a posh area of Raipur it aims to be one of the finest cooperative bhavans in the country, Sahu said.
