Co-op elections scene hots up in UP; BJP gets poll-ready

The top-notch political leaders of Uttar Pradesh associated with Bharatiya Janata Party, SamajwadiParty and others are busy making strategies to win the upcoming elections of primary level cooperatives of the state.

More than 7,000 primary cooperatives will hold the elections. The elections of primary co-ops boards of directors and Chairman & Vice-Chairman are slated for 18th March 2023 and 19th March 2023 respectively.

The political leaders in their respective districts are leaving no stone unturned to win the co-op elections. They are organizing meetings with local cooperators.

The senior leaders of BJP including Dharampal Singh, Santosh Singh, Bhola Singh, Prakash Dwivedi, Amit Balmiki and others are actively meeting cooperators regarding the elections.

If BJP’s Anand Shukla attended the meeting in connection with cooperative elections at Chitrakoot, Amit Balmiki and Prakash Dwivedi participated in the meeting organized at Bulandshahr and Banda respectively.

Besides, the leaders of Samajwadi Party are also making efforts to win the elections. Recently, the SP leaders including Vijay Yadav have motivated workers associated with his party in Sonbhadra district. In another meeting, Nawab Singh Yadav took part in the meeting of cooperators at Orai in Jalaun district of UP.

The schedule released by the Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Election Commission reads, “The elections of board of directors of primary cooperatives (excluding cooperative union and Krya-Vikray co-ops) will be held on 18-03-2023 and Chairman & Vice-Chairman elections will be on 19th March 2023.

“The elections of delegates of respective primary level co-ops will be organized on 06 March 2023. The candidates, who want to contest the elections for the board of directors, can file their nomination papers on 14th March 2023”, it further reads.

After the elections of primary level co-ops, cooperative unions and block union’s elections will be held. There are 1297 co-ops and their elections process will start from 22rd March 2023 and conclude on 31st March 2023.

Later on, the process of Krya-Vikray elections will be held from 3rd April 2023 to 13th April 2023. There are 225 co-ops.

It is worth mentioning that a few co-ops including Uttar Pradesh Pradeshik Cooperative Federation and a few district cooperative banks including Etawah, Barabanki DCCBs and others recently held the elections.
