The 24th Annual General Meeting of Gujarat State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation, Ahmedabad was held under the chairmanship of G H Amin, who lauded the role of Federation’s proactive approach.
Amin said the Credit Societies of the state have become advanced and computerized and perform much like Banks. They are able to cope with competition, he added. Amin said the Federation is functioning as a parental organization for about 6,000 Credit Societies spread across the State.
Speaking highly of an umbrella body of the Credit Societies in the State he said earlier it was a big problem as to where to represent issues and find solutions to various issues related to cooperative credit societies.
Established 24 years ago with the initial membership of 31 Credit Societies and with an initial fund of Rs. 31,000/-, the Federation has progressed to owning an amount of Rs. 1.75 crore, informs a press release issued by the federation.
Amin further said it is due to the Federation’s proactive approach, Credit Societies become advanced and computerized and also perform like Banks and are able to cope with competition.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, we made several requests and representations
to the govt and the authorities issued three separate notifications on 25th August 2020 in respect of the convening of the AGMs, appropriation of the profits and holding of the elections for the Credit Societies.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Federation Dushyantsinh Vaghela, took up the business of the AGM and presented the Annual Accounts and other items of the Agenda. All the members of the Federation endorsed and approved of the agenda in the meeting.
Maheshbhai A Patel, the Vice Chairman of the Federation was elected as the Director of Gujarat Housing Federation and Dr. Jivrajbhai Godhani the Vice Chairman of the Federation also elected as the Chairman of Surat District Cooperative Credit Societies Federation.
A state Level Cooperative Credit Societies Seminar was also held on the occasion. Speaking before the seminar Amin said businesses of small, middle class, labourers, artisans, shopkeepers, vendors, vegetable cart stall -owners, owners of small kiosks etc. remained shut on account of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the Government Guidelines but they were supported by the Aatmanirbhar Schemes.
About 45 lacs animal keepers, herdsmen and farmers are associated with the AMUL Federation. The AMUL established their own transport centers and livelihoods of animal keepers were sustained by way of a collection of the milk. AMUL achieved a turnover of Rs. 52000/- crore. IFFCO, KRIBHCO, and sugar Factories continued their production optimally utilizing their technology. The Federation also guided Credit Societies through online webinars.
In his remarks, Maheshbhai Patel thanked Narendrabhai Modi, Prime Minister of India and said all the sectors including the Cooperative Sector got a boost under his regime.
