The apex body of consumer cooperatives- National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) is leaving no stone unturned in providing onion, Chana dal and other items to the general public at subsidized rates through mobile vans.
In one of his tweets, Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution wrote, “Government directs NCCF to increase the retail points for the sale of onions at subsidised rate of Rs. 25/- per kg in many states including Delhi NCR. In addition to sale through online platforms like ONDC, it will be sold through mobile vans”.
In a bid to provide Onion and Chana Dal to the residents of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, 10 mobile vans were flagged off from the NCCF’s Noida office in a glittering function organized on Tuesday.
Later on, talking to the Indian Cooperative, Sharma said, “We are making efforts to provide the onion, chana dal and other food commodities to the common people at subsidized rates and in this connection 10 mobile vans with onion and chana dal were flagged off on Tuesday”.
“We are providing onion at the rate of Rs 25 per kg and chana dal at Rs 60 per kg. The per person limit is 5 kg. We will also add 25 more mobile vans in a couple of days. Besides, providing millets, potato, honey, Bharat Aata and other food commodities at the affordable rates are in the pipeline,”, said Sharma.
It bears recalling that earlier, the NCCF played an important role in stabilizing the price of tomatoes when the price was skyrocketing. Even Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah appreciated the same during his recent
Shah also drew a map for the future of NCCF on a grand scale. Shah not only talked of increasing its business multifold but also asked it to get ready to play a big role in the world’s largest cold storage being rolled out in the country at the behest of the Prime Minister.
“In the meeting, Shah asked the NCCF team to achieve a business turnover of Rs 50,000 crore till 2028. We will work to achieve the target in mission mode, NCCF Chairman Vishal Singh said while talking to the Indian Cooperative.
