Bengaluru: NCUI launches Training Program on business growth for PACS

The National Cooperative Union of India’s (five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program on ‘Business Promotion & Diversification in Primary Agricultural Credit Societies’ (PACS) commenced on May 13, 2024. This intensive training session, running from May 13-17, 2024, is hosted at the Agricultural Cooperative Staff Training Institute (ACSTI) in Bengaluru.

In collaboration with the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation (KSCF), NCUI’s Cooperative Extension & Advisory Services (CEAS) aims to equip trainers and faculty members from District Cooperative Unions and Junior Cooperative Training Institutes affiliated with KSCF.

The program is designed to enhance the trainers’ knowledge and skills, particularly focusing on the Model Byelaws of PACS. A total of 45 enthusiastic trainers are participating, set to engage in comprehensive learning and collaboration over the five days.

The inauguration ceremony featured a distinguished line up of speakers. Capt. Dr. K Rajendra, Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), Government of Karnataka, delivered the inaugural address. He highlighted the current status of PACS and commended NCUI’s efforts in developing master trainers.

Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive of NCUI, served as the chief guest, discussing NCUI’s alignment with the Ministry of Cooperation’s mandates and elaborating on the development of sector-specific training modules. He also emphasized NCUI’s collaboration with over 15 partner institutions to strengthen the cooperative movement in India.

KS Naveen, Additional RCS and Managing Director of KSCF, Bengaluru, extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries and participants, setting a collaborative and engaging tone for the event. Dr. Sagar Wadkar, Advisor for Research & Study at NCUI, provided a comprehensive outline of the program’s purpose, igniting excitement and anticipation among attendees.

Other notable dignitaries present included Lakshmipathaiah, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Secretary of KSCF; Sujoti, Principal of ACSTI Bengaluru; and Sri NM Shivakumar, Director of KSCF. The event was anchored by Sri P Rudrappa, Advisor at KSCF, while Sowmya K, Lecturer at KSCF, proposed the vote of thanks at the inauguration ceremony.
