Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) which markets milk and milk products under the brand of “Amul” is India’s largest food product organization has introduced “Honey” in the market.
Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture, Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Kailash Chaudhary, MoS for Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare and Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, MoS for Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare have virtually launched the “Amul Honey” from New Delhi.
On this occasion, Shamalbhai B Patel, Chairman, GCMMF, Valamjibhai Humbal, Vice Chairman, GCMMF, Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Chairman, Banaskantha milk union, Banas Dairy, Palanpur along with the Board of Directors of Banaskantha milk union and Dr. R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF attended the meeting.
Senior officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare & Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, National Bee Board, and National Beekeeping and Honey mission also attended the meeting, according to a press release sent by Amul.
While launching the product,Tomar hailed the efforts of Amul to take forward the dreams of the Sweet revolution of the Prime Minister. It will help small and marginal farmers to improve their income substantially, Tomar said on the occasion.
Parshottam Rupala mentioned that Amul has once again brought a product that passed stringent quality tests abroad. The taste of India has become sweeter now.
Shankarbhai Chaudhary mentioned that the farmers of Banas Dairy Cooperative worked hard to help realize the dreams of the Prime Minister. He also urged the Government of India to make available honey testing labs of international standard in the district of Banaskantha, Gujarat.
GCMMF MD, Dr. R S Sodhi mentioned that the call for sweet revolution by the Prime Minister is being realized by Amul through using the existing large milk network for honey procurement, packing, and marketing.
Amul has launched mono flora (single flower source) honey in four variants viz.; Mustard, Saunf, Til, and Ajwain which is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) tested. Madhu Kranti will be achieved through the active support of the Government of India and National Bee Board with an aim to increase the income of farmers, stated Sodhi.
