Amravati DCCB creates history; disburses crop loan to 75k farmers

Amravati District Central Cooperative Bank has created history by disbursing more than Rs 1700 crore crop loans to the farmers in the current financial year at zero rates of interest.

More than 75 thousand farmers of the area benefited from this disbursement, claimed Congress leader and the newly elected Chairman Sudhakarrao Bharasakle to Indian Cooperative.

“We are committed to helping the farmers of Amravati District and making a plan to launch a new scheme in their interest. We are giving loans up to Rs 3 lakh to the farmers at zero rates of interest”, claimed the Chairman.

Hinting that the recovery process of loan is not going to be tough, Bharasakle said the process is already going on without any hitch. “We are working to take the bank to newer heights and the deliberations in this regard are going on”, said a confident Bharasakle.

Besides, he pooh-poohed the charges of misappropriation of funds raised during the elections. “Earlier, when our team was on the board of the bank, the opponents made allegations of fund diversion in mutual funds. We had invested Rs 700 crore in mutual funds but all money came into the bank coffers and there was no irregularity, he added.

Despite several allegations raised against us, our team succeeded in winning the majority of seats of the board of directors in the recently held elections of the bank. The voters reposed faith in us, Bharasakle asserted who has been elected a board member of Amravati District Cooperative Board

Readers would recall that in the elections of the bank, the board consists of 21 elected directors out of which four were earlier elected unopposed and the elections were held for 17 seats.

The Sahakar Panel which was led by Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur (Congress) won 12 seats whereas the Parivartan Panel led by MoS Bacchu Kadu won only 4 seats and 1 seat was won by an independent candidate.

The Amravati DCCB earned a net profit of Rs 4.57 crore in the 2020-21 financial Year. At present, the bank is rendering services through its 90 branches, 3 Extension Counters, and 5 Regional Offices with its Head Office functioning from Camp Road, Amravati.
