Under the aegis of Gujarat State Cooperative Union, a State Level Women Cooperative Seminar “Aatmanirbhar Mahila – Aatmanirbhar Bharat” was held at Ahmedabad. The Seminar was presided over by G H Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union.
Participants included several women co-operators, members of the Women’s Committee and women members of the Board of Directors associated with various co-operative societies of the state of Gujarat.
Inaugurating the seminar Ms. Rajikaben Kacheriya, Panchayat Member of Government of Gujarat said skill development and self-reliance are connected and that every woman should possess skill to be self-reliant. There is a need to promote skill-learning as women can perform any task, if space and time be provided to them.
Speaking on the occasion G H Amin narrated aims and objects of celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March every year and stated that on this day discussion and deliberation take place as to what action needs to be taken for the empowerment of women.
Giving a brief introduction about the Cooperative activities, Amin said women can be made economically strong by giving employment to the skilled women after forming cooperative societies. Amin stated that there is a growth of education today and the Government, Private or Public Sector will not be in a position to provide employment to everyone.
In such a scenario the Cooperative Sector is meant for ensuring the economic and social upliftment of everyone without discrimination. The Cooperative Enterprises is one of the biggest sources of the employment generation, Amin stressed.
Releasing the booklet on ” Aatmanirbharta ni Udaan “, MD of SEWA and Guest of Honour, Ms Mittalben Shah recalled the gigantic task of uniting the women working with the unorganized sector undertaken by Ms Ilaben Bhatt. She said in order to ensure the social transformation and women empowerment, the economic empowerment of the women is a must.
Ms. Manishaben Parikh, the member of the women committee of Gujarat State Cooperative Union and a member of the women committee of Vadodara District Cooperative Union, also spoke on the occasion. Other who spoke included Ms. Bhavnaben Jadeja, the Chairperson of the Women Committee of Gujarat State Cooperative Union, Ms. Neepaben Mehta.
Dr Rajendrabhai Trivedi, Executive Officer of Gujarat State Cooperative Union presented the brief outline of the program and welcomed the guests and also expressed thanks for their presence.
In this State Level Woman Cooperative Seminar, Dr.D. S. Patel, GM of Madhur Dairy guided the participants of the Seminar on the theme of “Aatmanirbhar Mahila and the Cooperatives”, Ms. Mitalben Shah, MD of SEWA on the “Places of the Employment”, Shri Dave of UNICEF on the “Activities being undertaken for the Empowerment of Women in UNICEF” and Ms.Darshnaben Thakker, Motivational Speaker guided the participants of the Seminar on “The Women and the Domestic Violence”.
The entire event was successfully anchored by Shri A K Raval, Officer of Gujarat State Cooperative Union. The female members of the various Cooperative Societies sought guidance by attending the seminar in large groups.
