Amidst charges of the NDA govt not being serious about the 97th CAA presently lost in the maze of cases in the Supreme Court, the apex body of cooperatives NCUI has decided to plunge headlong into the matter. The apex body is meeting lawyers, ministry officials and others for quick resolution to the legal tangle.
Indian Cooperative talked to several cooperators who accuse the NDA government of not taking the matter as seriously as it should. They ask why the case has not yet been listed even when lawyer like Mukul Rastogi representing the government. They have welcomed the NCUI move and hope its counsel will pursue the matter in right earnest.
A few cooperators said since Sharad Pawar fathered the idea which the present dispension is merely paying lip-service to.
Tired of any substantial progress in the matter the apex body has petitioned the Supreme Court to allow it to be a co-petitioner.
Talking to Indian Cooperative the NCUI President said ” we have also requested the government to allow us to act as a co-petitioner in the case. I do not think government has any reservation on the issue”, he added.
Indian Cooperative has learnt President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav had deputed former Chief Executive Dr Dinesh for the job. Dinesh had met the Central Registrar Mr Ashish Bhutani seeking his support in the matter. He also wanted to have copies of all the applications submitted in the apex court so far.
It is sad the report of the NDA govt. stalling the ambitious 97th Constitutional Amendment is true. The Act has power of making cooperative a transparent enterprise. The Act would also free co-operatives of charges –malicious or genuine leveled against them from time to time.
