The Vipul camp sounded unfazed at the order issued by the commissioner of cooperation and registrar of cooperative societies, Gujarat against the former Chairman of GCMMF Vipul Chaudhary. There is nothing new in this order, said Joseph PurathurKittan, a close aide of the leader.
Readers would recall that earlier the daily Business Standard reported that on March 10 the Commissioner Mr M A Narmawala issued an order which not only removed Vipul Chaudhary from the Chairmanship of Mehsana milk union but also debarred him from contesting cooperative elections for the next three years.
In a text message sent to the Indian Cooperative Mr Joseph PurathurKittan who was transferred to the Maneshar office of Mehsana Milk Union last year in order to cultivate contacts for his boss said “The registrar has been restrained by the SC from implementing any adverse decision. Therefore the Registrar’s action has no material effect.”
Mr Joseph, who also acted as the Executive Assistant to Vergeshe Kurien in the past further wrote “In fact the alleged irregularities are more or less the same that were alleged to remove him (Vipul Chaudhry) from GCMMF Chairmanship and that is awaiting Supreme Court judgment as the order has been reserved.”
Amidst the sleazy politics that has been witnessed in the different milk unions associated with GCMMF for some years now, the current order by the Cooperative department is sure to lend fodder to the political fire. The next date of hearing is on 20th March.
Mr Chaudhary has been facing charges of corruption from union members. They accuse him of impatience with democratic norms and treating first GCMMF and later Mehsana milk union as his personal properties.
