The revelation that Uttarakhand Dairy Cooperative Federation (USDF) Chairperson Rekha Devi contested the election of Federation against norms and that the State Registrar asked her to explain her position in the matter has set tongues wagging in the cooperative circles.
However, reacting to the news Devi said, “I have not violated any prescribed norms and it only smacks of conspiracy hatched by some of the BJP leaders to remove me from the top position. I will not sit quietly and would rather like to take them head on, she said boldly.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Correspondent, she named three leaders including Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank Chairman Dan Singh Rawat, Former Chairman USDF Rajveer Singh and Mukesh Bhora, Nainital Sahakari Dugdh Sangh who are conspiring against me.
It is interesting to know that Rekha Devi also belongs to BJP fold and it was the same party which helped her bag the top post in the past. “But as she is increasingly proving not “manageable” they are eager to discard her”, said many insiders on condition of anonymity.
Rekha Devi said, “Earlier, these leaders wanted me to tender resignation but I flatly refused. Now they have got a probe initiated against me”. The matter is related to the procurement of milk at the district level societies.
Devi informed, ” The election of USDF was held last year in December. According to the relevant Act, only a person who has given 300 liters of milk to the district dairy federation within 180 days can contest the election of Dugdh Sahakari Samiti.”
“I have therefore not violated any norms. Actually, under the pressure of these political leaders, the registrar is trying to prove me guilty”, she said.
“PM Narendra Modi always speaks about strengthening the women of the country but these leaders are busy weakening the women by making false allegations against them”. Devi underlined.
“If I violated the norms why they did not get it probed within 45 days. The election was held in 2016′. she noted.
BJP leaders, on the other hand allege that sometimes ago when the registrar received a complaint against Devi and conducted investigation he found Devi guilty. USDF sells milk under the brand name of ‘Aanchal’.
