District Collector of Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu has claimed milk procurement has spiked to one lakh litre daily in the district.
He attributed this achievement to the introduction of comprehensive dairy development scheme for the benefit of members belonging to the primary milk producers’ societies.
The scheme has made the infrastructural development possible for clean and quality milk production in the area, the district official said. A total amount of Rs. 51.83 lakh has been given as subsidy to the cooperative societies for buying livestock feed.
Nearly hundred new cooperative societies have come into existence in the district in 2012-13. Several subsidy based schemes have been underway to strengthen the cooperatives, added the district collector.
