India’s legendary dairy cooperative Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) will soon start selling a range of milk products including butter oil, cottage cheese and a sweet yogurt to the consumers in a neighbourhood near New York, USA.
Talking to Indian Cooperative the GCMMF MD R.S. Sodhi said there are millions of Indians and Asians living in America and therefore there will be no lack of custom. The GCMMF has combined forces with a no-resident Indian based in New Jersey to do this business.
The manufacturing unit being established to produce the dairy products will use the latest technology available, Sodhi claimed.
According to Sodhi, milk for the plant will be collected only from the dairy cooperatives in the US. The milk collection prices and allied matters will be decided according to the standards existing on the US market, said sources.
The GCMMF sells milk products worth scores of crores annually on the international market. The company is hoping to spike its annual turnover this fiscal and netting in an impressive bottom-line.
