Managing Director of GCCMF which owns the brand name of Amul, R S Sodhi was elected President of Indian Dairy Association (IDA) on Saturday. Arun Patil (Maharashtra) and Ajay Kumar Khosla (New Delhi) have been elected as its two Vice-Presidents.
Sodhi replaced Dr G S Rajorhia. On getting elected as IDA President, Dr Sodhi said, “It is an honour for me to represent the IDA because Dr. V Kurien, my mentor, held the same position in the year 1964 and now I got the opportunity to lead this institution after 58 years”.
“The Indian dairy industry is “Atmanirbhar” and has the potential to become “Dairy to the World”, he added.
As soon as his name was announced, his fans and others lost no time in congratulating him through social media. Extending warm greetings, the official twitter handle of NDDB which is headed by Meenesh Shah wrote, “NDDB congratulates Indian Dairy Association’s newly-elected President Dr @Rssamul, Vice President Shri Ajay Kumar Khosla, and other elected members on winning the polls”.
Similarly, Amul Vice-Chairman Valamji Humbal wrote, “Congratulations to Dr @Rssamul , Managing director of GCMMF (@Amul_Coop) India’s largest FMCG company for being elected as President of Indian dairy association (IDA)”.
National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Ltd wrote, ” #NCDFI congratulates the newly elected President Dr @Rssamul and other elected members of the Indian Dairy Association. @ncdficoop”.
Sodhi has 40 years of rich experience with Amul and he has been heading Amul for the last 12 years. It is also important to note that he was elected to the Board of the International Dairy Federation (IDF) last year.
Indian Dairy Association (IDA) was founded in 1948 and is the apex body of the dairy industry in India. Dairy Cooperatives, MNCs, corporate bodies, private institutions, educational institutions, government and public sector units are members of IDA.
