Rising rates of inputs led to price-rise :Sodhi

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) on Sunday announced to increase price of all categories of packaged milk by Rs 2 per litre for parts of Gujarat.

“GCMMF has decided to increase the price of milk by Rs 2 per litre in Anand, Kheda and Ahmedabad along with all the districts of Saurashtra region,” managing director of GCMMF R S Sodhi said on Sunday.

The increased rates of Amul milk will come into the effect from June 1, Sodhi said. With the increased prices, Amul Gold will cost Rs 48, where as Amul Shakti, Amul Taaza and Amul Slim and Tream will cost Rs 44, Rs 36 and Rs 34, respectively.

The price of Amul tea special has been increased from Rs 42 to Rs 44. The decision of revising the milk-price has been taken after 13 months, considering the increased rates of cattle- feed and fodder, he said.

Along with that, the federation had before a year ago increased the milk procurement prices by Rs 3 per one kg fat, Sodhi said citing the reasons for increasing the milk price.

However, the price rise is only limited for GCMMF, while other milk producing federations in various districts of the state will take decision of increase the price on their own soon, the MD said.

Surendranagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Jamnagar, Amreli and Botad districts are included in Saurashtra region of Gujarat.
