Overflowing with milk , the Karnataka milk federation has gone on an exporting spree. It has begun sending its surplus milk to South Africa. The federation has a plan to export about 40 lakh litres of milk this year.
It merits mention that the biggest dairy federation of the Southern India has already been exporting milk and milk products to scores of countries across the world including Europe. The federation sells milk and milk products under its famed ”nandani” brand.
Nearly 13 thousand milk cooperatives compose the federation, about a dozen district cooperative milk unions are affiliated to it. In other words, about 22 lakh milk farmers are owning and operating the Karnataka milk federation.
