A dairy cooperative of 200 smaller cooperative societies has attracted the notice of the new government of West Bengal . Himul, a poor cousin of Amul which is lying in tatters in want of governmental concern is being revived in the state.
Taking serious note of the dying dairy cooperative Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has activated state machineries to come to its rescue. Animal Husbandry Minister along with district administration are at work to come out with credible revival plan.
The dairy cooperative fell to disuse after the dues of dairy farmers were discontinued forcing them to sell the milk elsewhere.
Private partners are being searched out to lend support to Himul. A few of them have shown keen interest.
