The Managing Director of India’s largest food products organization, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (AMUL), Mr R.S. Sodhi has been elected as the Honorary Fellow 2017 by Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE).
The Fellowship was awarded by Mr Parshottam Rupala, Minister of State, Agriculture, Govt. of India at the 52nd Annual Convention of ISAE at Anand on Monday. Sodhi has obtained his B.E (Agriculture Engineering) degree from College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE), Udaipur in the year 1980 and has been working at GCMMF (AMUL) since last 36 years.
This Fellowship has been awarded for the significant contributions of Sodhi, MD, GCMMF in advocating the cause of agricultural engineering in general and dairy movement in particular through excellent business acumen.
During the ceremony the Minister praised the work done by Anand Agriculture University. Rupala emphasized on doubling farmers’ income, which would mean doubling the income of 70% of country’s population.
Sodhi informed that AMUL has successfully quadrupled the income of its dairy farmers in last seven years, demonstrating the efficacy of Amul model in exceeding our national goal of doubling farmer’s income in seven years.
GCMMF is currently procuring an average of 220 lac litres of milk per day from 36 lac farmers through 18500 village dairy cooperative societies.
