The game of cat and mouse dogging the dairy cooperative giant GCMMF came virtually to end on Friday with the division bench of Gujarat High Court upholding the single judge judgment on Board’s power to move no-confidence motion against its Chairman.
Vipul Chaudhary had challenged the order of a single judge allowing implementation of the no-confidence motion passed against him. The Division Bench even refused to stay the execution of no-confidence against Vipul till he appeals in the Supreme Court.
With the High Court’s Division Bench judgment December 5th meeting of GCMMF board in which the no confidence motion was passed against Vipul by 13 Directors has come into force.
When Indian Cooperative talked to the GCMMF’s MD R S Sodhi on the implication of the order, Sodhi said “Friday onwards Vipul Chaudhary is no more the Chairman of the dairy cooperative behemoth”.
“I will act under the supervision of the Board. The process of electing a new Chairman would be set in motion in due course. We would write to the Collector who would eventually begin the process of election”, Sodhi added.
Experts pointed out that chances of Vipul getting relief from the apex court is also quite remote as earlier also the Supreme Court had refused to interfere in the matter.
In days to come the race for new Chairman for the GCMMF is sure to pick up with many candidates in the ring. Parthi Patel, Jetha Bhai and Mohan Bhai Patel are some of the names doing round in the cooperative circle.
